Thanks Mike best I drop AOR a email and see if they can shed some light on why the Auto Code detection dont work or maybe its a firmware problem .But if it states its got Auto Code Detection on DCR then it should have it any way still trying to get a audio recording of the signal to send to Jim so he can confirm it is DCR . I looked on a shop watch freq today thats listed on WTR Lic Number 1121800/4 2017-07-06 thats listed as DMR on 460.4125 but seems to be coming up as DCR here ? .

I fully understand regarding turning your PM off due to the amount of questions I best then since this forum you cant add attachments its best I put it one of the face book AOR groups but I have a feeling until more people buy this radio its going to remain a mystery but who knows AOR may have some thing up there sleeve .

All ok on a valid NXDN signal during Key search mode it should report the key code within half a second, 00000 for clear or the scramble code, if scrambled the audio will be decoded into the clear.. You need not due anything it is automatic.. Presetting codes etc only puts filters in the way of you hearing anything. I left the radio on all night so I dont think the Auto code Detection is working but will see what AOR have to say .

The Auto code Detection instructions in the manual are wrong and should be this .So if they had this wrong I wonder if it works at all .

AR5700D OPERATING MANUAL ADDENDUM:

Following replaces the description for DCR / NXDN page 33:

DCR / NXDN 15 BIT SCRAMBLE CODE
[FUNC] + [0]. Go to DCR CODE with [DOWN] key.
Set the 5-digit number to decode a scrambled signal. 32767 possible combinations from 00001 to 32767. • Use the sub-dial to select a value. • [UP] or [DOWN] key to change selection. • [PASS] to set to 00000 for no scramble code used. • [ENT] to validate. For scramble code auto detection, long press the [PASS] key. A star mark will appear. Press [ENT] twice to validate and quit this page.

So will let you know as many people would like to know what the performance is like and how it compares with other scanners . The only Freqs on this site regarding Colchester I think are out of date .

As regards NXDN signals in Colchester, anybody local who has a DV1, TRX1 or an NXDN upgraded 3600 should be able to help you to the presence of any clear or scrambled signals.

Morning MIKE + JIM

Ok I had a reply from AOR in Japan and it looks like there using the " Get out of jail card " AOR DO NOT SUPPORT ENCRYPTED Encrypted SIGNALS " :-
Dear Sir

The signals you are trying to decode are probably either encrypted, and/or a wide-band type of NXDN.
As a matter of fact, NXDN exists in narrowe mode (6.25kHz), wide mode (12.5kHz), with or without scramble code, and with or without encryption.
AR5700D can only decode the narrow mode, with or without scramble.
Wide mode and encryption are not suppported.

Regards,

AOR, Ltd.
www.aorja.com

I am going to try some thing and see if it sorts out the problem knowing the front end of most scanners is like a barn door open to any very strong signals as I have in line of sight a 300 foot Plus PMR tower less than a mile away that maybe the cause of these strange signals because its sounds like DCR + NXDN / C4FM / AMBE+2 is not used that much in the UK but it seems to be poping up all over the place over here the 5700D only Supports 6.25 Khz mode only .

On that WTR list there are 7 storenet freqs listed so I wonder if these are shop / pub watch freqs there in DMR mode . 460.4125 , 459.5500 , 459.7625 , 459.6500 , 452.0500, 453.2625 and 453.1500 so I will give those a go .

AOR have had this stance from the start of the DV1, they only support reception of NXDN48 6.25KHz Narrow Band NXDN, also it will only decode scrambled NXDN not encrypted.
Of note, AFAIK all NXDN radios have basic privacy - scrambling as standard, encryption requires an add on module..

The frequencies of interest are: 453.0500, 453.1500 and 453.2625MHz, they are repeater outputs, the others are the paired repeater inputs apart from 460.4125MHz which I suspect is a simplex frequency used for testing and if the repeaters pack up..

Evening Mike

Well this afternoon the while scanning it locked and seem to be telling me that known DMR freqs were now DCR freqs next the whole thing just locked up ! The only way to unfree the receiver was to do a total reset :- Press Fung + Khz then press Mhz to reset or Switch off the power switch at the rear While pressing key 5 + 7 and release when the S meter light comes on .

So did a reset but its the same looks like a email to AOR or the place I bought it from .

Oh Dear !

Oh Dear !

I gather you purchased it from the Far East so returning might be problematic
Might be an idea having a word with Waters & Stanton / Nevada in Portsmouth as they are the AOR agents in the UK ?

Morning well the plan was to buy from singapore since it was a £1000 cheaper the problem was one company canceled and then I found a second company in singapore and one also in Hongkong but due to all the current problems with coronavirus I thought it best to do a deal with a UK dealer .Yes fully aware that W/S are the main importer but they would not cut me a deal in the end I bought it from Radioworld .So it is a UK model .

Ok back to the issues in hand if you have been looking at the AOR facebook groups you would see that the problem with this radio is the firmware its crashed and needs to be re installed . Having not done one before I am going to need a hand to install new firmware . With the radio came a Dongle looking at the Dongle what files do I need to install on my computer ?
Since I am running win 10 64 bit I can assume I need to install that one

Do I need to install USB Driver V2.12.28

Which brings me to files which one of these files is the firmware I wonder .

I have put some attachments on AOR FB DV10 site . I have a feeling its the same for the DV1

Thanks again

Understood Mike

Well just need to get someone to talk me through how to reinstall the firmware I have been in contact with AOR I am assuming in on the stick . Oh yes the good news is while playing around last night I found one of the local shop watch channels on 453.2625 its DMR . If it comes to it the radio will be sent back to the dealer and they can sort it out .

Thanks again .
