Group 16777215 DMR

Postby Mark5R » Tue Nov 03, 2015 2:17 pm

I notice a few people use Group 16777215 which is in effect an 'all call' group. My question is would you need to program Group 16777215 in as a receive group or will all users hear this regardless of what groups are in the receive list?

Yes it wall call all groups on the same system with the same frequency, timeslot and colour code without needing to program 16777215 in as a receive group. This is useful for systems where there are various departments that have their own groups but control wants to send a general message to all users. I believe it originally started as a way for engineers to test MPT Trunked Systems using the same 16777215 group. Along with DMR it has also made it's way to Tetra and possibly other systems.

thats my understanding about the mpt trunking too, it also works on Tetra if you do a direct dial to 16777215.
