2 x DMR Broadcasts On 440.575

Postby Skirge » Fri Jun 24, 2016 10:31 am

I seem to be picking up two separate users on the one frequency on 440.575
One seems to be some kind of security at what I think is the metro center & the other some kind of maintenance company.
Strange thing is one comes out of the left speaker and the other the right and at times when they both are taking over each other I hear both clearly from each speaker and they seem oblivious to each other.

Probably a DMR Community Repeater. Though on the same frequency they will have different groups and not hear each other when talking as there are two voice slots.

Welcome to DMR, this is how it works, each DMR repeater is capable of 2 seperate channels running at the same time, these are called Slots 1 and 2, so you could have metro center security on slot 1 and metro center maintenance on slot 2 running exactly as you describe. A lot of PMR users upgraded to DMR not because of the radio security angle but because you get a 2 channel repeater for the price of an analogue single channel repeater, sort of a radio BOGOF..
