TYT MD 380 ( What are the benefits?)

Postby doddster09 » Sun Jul 10, 2016 8:36 pm

I'm think of buying this radio to monitor the digital network as my SDR isnt working what so ever with DSD PLUS.
I've seen online full programmed versions of the radio... All I want it for really is to listen to local un encrypted security or shops around Manchester (south)

Is this radio capable of doing that or is there a digital scanner now available that can achieve that?

Yes the TYT is capable of doing that but you'll need dsd to get the information needed to program the radio. The fully programmed ones you mention will be programmed for amateur repeaters. There is a scanner available which while not giving you any information will allow you to listen to the audio, AOR DV1 is what you need, although a touch more expensive than an md380

I think I can programme it quite easy. But, I need a DMR ID to order one and I don't have a Amature license...
Can I just buy one and programme it and use it to monitor without a DMR ID.. Most shops online want this

Yes you can monitor.. Just tell the dealer that you have not applied for your DMR ID yet..
