Again interesting jimh, thanks,

Good point about the registring of the Uniden and updates, I believe the updates for the 436 are only available to be bought by the holder of a US or possibly also Canadian credit card ?. I suppose it would be possible to register it with a US friend, and obtain the updates via them,

As I spend a great deal of time abroad, with my scanner I am also interested in the APCO25 functionability,as a local user has recently switched over to APCO25 ,in the clear,(as confirmed by a dongle and SDR+, Which decodes APCO25 very well indeed ,but I guess I will need to look at a US Group to get such info there been only a few users in the UK I believe, then probably encrypted?.

"Uniden Europe will get the UBC3600XLT in 2017. It is based on the BCD436HP model.

Great scanner to listen to the DMR (with paid DMR upgrade) stuff around the London's Heathrow Airport and in Europe."
Believe upgrade is $60 maybe free in UK ?

I wasn't able to use a UK Credit Card to complete upgrade purchases on the Uniden site, but a UK Debit Card worked without any issues. If memory serves me right, for address, instead of US Country/State, you select US Forces - Europe.

Can't comment on Heathrow specifically, but I do know many of the DMR Capacity Plus networks at UK airports are encrypted.

Hi. If anyone has got one of these and worked out how to programme it manually I would be interested to learn how to do it! The built in American database is more of a hindrance than help I suggest. Thanks.

jimh wrote:One thing I haven't mentioned yet: at the minute you can't register a non-US Uniden model with My.Uniden and that's a critical step for buying the keys for digital upgrades. That's probably a good thing for the 3600 (as it makes it more likely that it comes with DMR out of the box). But if Uniden do add further digital mode upgrades (they haven't said they will or won't) then these might not extend to the 3600.

Knowing Uniden's tunnel vision of the world, which is entirely focused on the US (You can't even input a UK address unless you say it is "US Forces Posted Overseas"), this is more than likely due to Uniden's incompetence rather than a technical limitation. I suspect inputting a UBC3600XLT as a BCD436HP may work, but it will need someone which a genuine serial number to try.

Some systems at Birmingham Airport are TETRA, so no hope hearing those for now.

From what I saw when I owned the 436hp the uniden was taller and a bit slimmer than the trx-1 so easier to put into a pocket but the trx-1 looks bigger in its protective case so can be misleading at first glance and again the dmr received better on the trx-1 in my opinion but the uniden followed dmr trunking better out of the two of them .

Obviously I haven't held the 3600 in my hands to see if there is any difference's between the 436hp and the current uniden model but a side by side test would be good to see in action .

My findings on the 3600 as well..

One bummer for me is it will not detect simplex DMR on Close Call and is iffy on Search..
