I have the 3600 and it works ok, have not set it up correct yet or set Cap+ systems. I can be a bit deaf when i compare it to my other Unidens.

I am thinking about senni g up an analogue scanner with discriminating tap and decoding using DSD + as I find the whole software based thing problematic

I was sat in my van listing to digital on my 3500 but uable to find it on sdr # so thought I might cut out the middle man and have the best of both

I have a lot of success with it. A DMR scanner does it for me which is good as most users of interest like security and shopwatch in my area are now DMR. Even a taxi firm. My scanner handles them well. You can get DMR radios to monitor DMR but it is a hard and lengthy task and not recommended.

Thats how I started. A 3.5 cable from scanner to PC and running DSD. It was easy to set up and then I got a dongle and sdr but I've gone back to just my scanner and dsd+ as it provides the best results.

Who told you this bollix ? the Whistler, Uniden and AOR digital scanners are all able to listen to Mototrbo, DMR, CAP+ systems..
It is DMR radios (MD380 etc) that have problems with CAP+ and systems that are RAS enabled..
