Baofeng 888s frequencies

Postby Southwales » Mon Feb 19, 2018 9:42 pm

Hi, If I put the baofeng 888s frequencies in my uv5r and wanting receive only am I correct in thinking I can ignore and don't need to put in any of the tone mode, tone squelch and ctcss codes etc, if I want receive only?. Not interested in talking as my uv5r is just a scanner to me. So basically for channel 1, I would put in 462.1250, and tone mode, tone squelch and duplex can be set to none and just select NFM. And I should be good to go.

Yes that should work ok. Of course, anyone operating on the default baofeng 888s frequencies will almost certainly be doing so illegally as most, if not all, of them will be unlikely to be able to be licensed.

Not that I would complain, especially as more people and bussiness are switching to digital and tetra, the baofeng and pmr 446 users will be about all we will have left to listen to on are scanners.
