Uniden 125 scanning pmr446 ctcss\ctc

Hi, Have the 16 UK legal pmr frequencies programmed into my uniden 125 scanner, I am guessing a lot of the users on them frequencies are sometimes using ctcss codes, why scanning the 16 programmed frequencies is there a way to get the scanner to display what ctcss code they are using?, I have tested it with my binatone pmr using a ctcss code and as a close call hit it will display the ctcss code. But when the user is to far away for it to be a close call hit can I get the scanner to display the ctcss code?. I don't want to know the ctcss code so I can then try and talk to the users but think it would be interesting to know that they have tried to get some privacy by setting a ctcss code.

Just set the CTCSS/DSC to Search.
It's in the manual.
I reserve the right to ignore people who have made no attempt to the read the manual, and expect others to do it for them.

Hi, Tried that and it did not work, wondering if that is only for close call hits or when scanning, what I am trying to get my scanner to do is when searching through my stored 16 pmr channels in bank 1, I also want it to display\tell me if they are also using a ctcss or dcs code. So for example I have saved pmr channel 2 as 466.0185 in bank 1 channel 2, now at the moment my scanner will stop on bank 1 channel 2 every time I press the ptt button on my binatone ( set to channel 2 ) letting me know the transmission is on channel 2, what it will not do is display ctcss code when using one set on my binatone. Hope this makes sense.

It doesn't just tell you the tone on close call, if you set it to search on the CTCSS or DCS it will tell you the tone if it has one. Granted if the signal is very weak it will have a hard job finding it. It may even be intermittent during a transmission. I have local 446's / 449's with the tone wired in, but also have them in a bank on search mode. Some places can have radios with at least two channels, but both are the same frequency, but a different tone. My local Sainsbury's use 449.400 on two DCS tones.

Thanks (thelad) yes you are correct, after a bit more playing I found I needed to set search ctcss to every channel I wanted this feature to work on.
