Hmmm - I had a UBC 780XLT and I was ver disappointed in it as it was deaf, I ended up buying a pre-amp for it. I now have a Uniden BCT15X which is far better and the pre-amp I bought now sits there unused.

I've had one for years and love it.A little workhorse of a scanner. It does trunking but in my neck of the woods thats virtually non-existent,so it gets used for mainly airband listening. The best (and only?) software is Proscan https://www.proscan.org/ which has a 30 day free trial

My main interest is also Air bands Civil/Mil, I have just loaded Proscan and ordered a Scanner to PC cable, I'm finding though Proscan extremely difficult to understand ALL I want to do is load frequencies to Proscane then to my Scanner nothing more ... guess its old age but I'm useless at this sort of thing

I'll admit,it is a bit complex but it is doable.Especially for what you want to do its worth the effort.Give it a go.Unfortunately I dont use it as I don't really need it so I cant guide you.Give it a go though..

Well got ProScan up and running and some frequencies programed in , it sure is a big learning curve, I keep forgetting how to get the 780XLT to scan from the ProScan database ?

Heading down to far South West Cornwall very soon [St Ives area] and scanner coming with me any Freqencies i should add before i get there?

Very Happy with this scanner and i think it will be a keeper, works very well through my X50 antenna that is above the appex of my house 9 miles from the Scotish Border

Be careful, you might get carried away.
These are useful though:

I reserve the right to ignore people who have made no attempt to the read the manual, and expect others to do it for them.
