I'm always convinced that dB chasing is not always that useful. I have some 4 way splitters that came out of some radio location gizmos I rescued - they handle up to 3GHz, and work pretty well in a radio mic rack on UHF. On air band, getting a few extra dB of signal seems to make little difference to distant aircraft - as they are either there with bags of signal, or out of line of sight and not there at all! 3dB might make that slightly weak tower frequency become noise free, but over my7 radio career, I've lost count of the number of times I've improved antennas systems, and been hard pressed to actually detect a measurable difference. Most times, I suspect the expenditure on antennas and cable convinces my brain I can hear an improvement!
