AOR have pulled a rabbit out of the hat !

Postby Metradio » Fri Dec 21, 2018 9:56 pm

AOR have just released a firmware upgrade for the AR-DV1:

This is a BETA firmware of which only purpose is for you to test voice decoding of the traffic channels of Tetra trunking networks.
This new decode mode is named T-TC (for Tetra Traffic Channel)

IT WORKS.... I just set up a search on the UHF Airwave base frequencies from 390-395MHz, adjusted the squelch as described. It stops on active speech - although it is encrypted - it passes the audio and displays the time slot..

Wow this is big move forward. Will this now decode unencrypted trunked TMO tetra? And are there possibilities to decode the encrypted audio?

Instructions for AR-DV1 firmware 1812A (BETA)

Important:
*This is a BETA firmware of which only purpose is for you to test voice decoding of the
traffic channels of Tetra trunking networks.
*This new decode mode is named T-TC (for Tetra Traffic Channel)
*Some traffic can be encrypted and therefore decoding is impossible.
*Other functions have not been tested and some are
likely not to work.
*For normal receiver use (other than trunking), please use the stable firmware release
1805A.

This looks good lookin forward to trying it out but does the above mean that when you add this update it will only decode tetra and for everything else you will have to revert back to 1805A ? is this just another mode added and i am reading it wrong ?

Unencrypted trunked TETRA no problem, encrypted - best of luck there :smiles:

Ha ha I will need that luck so thanks. In fact I think we all need it and this has to be a step forward as IMHO I dont see EE 4G whatever getting the blue lights any time soon and not in the next decade anyway. If we could just listen to something exciting again like the good old days even if it is just for a short time then it would be fun. Taxis Ham aircraft etc I dont even bother with anymore. My shopwatch is crap and apart from that I have a few security companies who communications can be summed up in one word.... MUNDANE. Oh and there are the annoying kids (of all ages) and bike instructors on pmr446. Damn I miss the old days. WE NEED MORE TRANSPARANCY GODDAMITT

Are there any unencrypted EMS coms? I heard TMO EMS was unencrypted but not sure if thats true. Also EMS microwave links?

question i have set up a search bank but what is the setting for the IF bandwidth?

also very curious while it was searching it suddenly stopped on what seems to be a dpmr signal i have put that into vfo to monitor have been too busy since to listen but i thought that 390-395 was tetra signals

the search was setup for tetra tc only then i mucked around and set it back to auto when it detected the dpmr signal, obviously i am now going to have to leave it in auto for a while to see if it is picking anything else up in that band range then switch back to tetra tc when it is exhausted like how i feel :mrcool:

The IF bandwidth is set by the Mode, for TETRA it will be quite wide...
In Auto Search you sometimes get momentary false positives, nature of the beast..
