For me it would be the 125.
I have both a 3500 & a 230 & I use very few programmed channels. Both have well under 25 programmed channels in them. As I use them for close call & just for listening to a couple of channels like Norwich Airport, 3 channels & marine channel zero etc etc & very occasionally.
For me, if you want to programme in a HELL OF A LOT of channels, then the 3500 is the radio. If you are normal, then the 125 is the radio to get.
Edited to add. I do not understand why anyone would need more than a few hundred channels.

The 3500 has more channels and they are sensibly arranged.
The 125 has a better display but the channel numbering is a pain in the ass.
I reserve the right to ignore people who have made no attempt to the read the manual, and expect others to do it for them.

If you want to control your scanner from a PC (virtual control, settings, programming channels and much more) then there is my free Scan125 Control Program for the UBC125XLT (see my signature for link).

I've not researched what is available for the UBC3500XLT so you should check this yourself.
