MORECAMBE
Hi Folks, Hi silvershadow .. sorry, i've been out of circulation for a while.
453.9875 went off 2 or 3 years ago, i hear Morecambe on 453.600 (PL-218) broadcast from the market, i thought it was TX from Morecambe cop station,
but its not as strong there as it is near the back of th Winter Gardens, there is a small mast up near there too, but it maybe on the cop shop, but doubt it.
in Heysham - parts of west morecambe 453.600 is a crap signal and many of the west end stores that had radios no longer seem to have them.
Morecambes 453.700 has never had Morecambe shopwatch on - at least as far as i can tell, unless anyone else in the area has - but i've been listening for years.
Thanks for the VHF freq though, though, as you say, UHF is preferred nowadays. they may be allocated but may not have kit for the frequencies in any case.
but probably worth keeping in the memories. there is a lot of UK General and short term hire use 'round here, and the council types have even been heard on PMR446
on the 'Festival of Light and Water' ( a summer firework display on the jetty )
453.9875 was BAE up until 18 months or longer ago, around the time the CCTV / shopwatch repeater on the 'Carleton' disappeared. but now is empty apart from some DMR traffic -
- either from the Preston or Blackpool area. probably MotoTrbo.
Lancaster is transmitted from the mast on the Police station, and has good coverage locally, its stronger in parts of Morecambe than the actual Morecambe repeater.
I guess the other channels on Lancaster shopwatch are likely some hire freqs - poss up around 460 mhz simplex. There is some interference on the Lancaster freq,
like a random 'spike' of data or some bit of faulty equipment, and is also audiable in the area, so quite strong interference, the CCTV signal masks it though. very odd.
