New to scanning, can anyone help with interesting frequencies. North West Cumbria would be great. :smiles:

What type of frequencies would interest you? and what bands can your scanner pick-up?

The milair frequencies are widely published on line if you identify your local airbases and likely visitors. On the coast marine can be interesting.

The problem is, I have no idea what interests you.. taxis and shops bore me, but might be the thing that floats your boat ;)

Kirkcudbright range is easily caught on the costal areas, I'm near Whitehaven and get them easily when the range is in use.

Get a decent discone up and you will be able to hear loads of Airband and also amateur radio, try 145.500 which is the calling channel. Also a few repeaters will be in range, Newton Stewart on 145.775 and IOM on 145.625

I've also got a UBC125XLT, have you got PC software to program it?

Can you hit the 2m repeater out towards Carlisle from Whitehaven?
I'm also new and interested to know what I should be able to hear!

Heard in Kendal yesterday

459.300 / 179.9, just chat about people starting shifts but the data bursts made me think it was Westmorland General Hospital. Also heard was 166.7625 / 131.8, possibly a taxi base. I searched for ages and only got these two. The Ofcom site doesn't have them listed, not for Kendal anyway
Pro 2042, Pro 26, 3500XLT, Yaesu FT60-R, Yeasu 1900, Retevis RT3, Tytera MD380, Retevis H777, FDC160A, 278B, Puxing 888, Uniden 3600XLT
