Very interesting I'm sure.
But to me "LV" is an insurance company.
Perhaps you'd care to enlighten the rest of us?

So this must be related to the changes to Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) Maritime Safety Information (MSI) broadcasts, and applies to the whole UK not just Holyhead.
http://hmcoastguard.blogspot.co.uk/2017 ... -2017.html

These changes are due to international changes to VHF Marine channels to accomodate some digital channels.

The current MCA MSI channels are:
157.15 / 161.75 FM Marine:23 (Used at South Stack near Holyhead)
157.225 / 161.825 FM Marine:84
157.325 / 161.925 FM Marine:86
(with :10 used in a few places.)

The new channels are:
156.125 / 160.725 FM Marine:62
156.175 / 160.775 FM Marine:63
156.225 / 160.825 FM Marine:64

This means the lost of SAR NFM channels 62A, 631, 632, 641, 624.
Has anyone seen any information about new frequencies for SAR?

I still don't have a clue was "LV" means :-)

channel 73 is used quite a bit for SAR around the lancashire coast along with channel 16 and some others.

Here are the SAR changes, at last:
https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/ ... safety.pdf
(Found via Google not the OFCOM site!)

147.34375 - 147.49375 MHz MCA for Land SAR management (so 147.35 to 147.4875? 12 channels? includes existing SAR channels :96 147.35 & :92 147.475)
155·35 MHz Land Search & Rescue – Scotland only. (to replace :93 152.85?)
155.9625 - 155.9875 MHz MCA for SAR management (presumably actually 155.975 since 156.0 is FM 25kHz used by MCA, perhaps this replaces 157.2 :25A used for helicopter winching, as this freq is no longer mentioned)
155.7750 - 155.9625 MHz MCA for Land SAR management (so 155.775 to 155.95 18 channels? Some simplex?)
158.65 (SAR:95 / Marine:53A) retained in Scotland.

Says :62 156.125 MHz will continue to be used for SAR A2G alongside MSI (Which will transmit on 160.725).

67 and 73 are the main two, generally if one area has 67, the neighbouring will have 73.

For things marine I refer to this page, it's regularly updated, simple to understand and straight to the point.

I've just heard the tail end of the Belfast MSIB, 84 will move to 63, 86 to 64. I just switched my radio on a few minutes ago. I'll listen in again at 00.10 if I'm still awake.
