Free radio ledgend Brian Horne SK.

I have just seen this else where.
One of the legends of 70's & 80's landbased broadcasting Brian Horne, aka Abe Cohen, The Hornet or G4NLB. has sadly died.
I never knew Brian, but his involvement in stations like Radio Jackie, especially in several of the court cases against Jackie, are the stuff of legends.
Brian also ran London Transmitter of Independent Radio (LTIR), which was a station he set up to relay various stations on VHF.
Some may also remember Brian for his 1970's antics as the Hornet on GB3LO.

Blimey that takes me back... Yes I remember him from GB3LO and some Thursday evening meetings at a riverside pub in Richmond....

He was one of the Radio Jackie team & was regularly up in court.
If you have not got it, Colin King's book Radio Jackie, A very English Struggle is full of stories involving Brian.
Brian was also involved with Radio Kaleidoscope.

Sorry to hear of Brian's passing (apologies very belated!) He was such a character - seemingly on GB3LO and later GB3SL on a 24/7 basis in the 1970s, and always involved in antics of one sort or another. I think he even set up a pirate repeater in South London over one Christmas - GB3XMAS! His car chases along Crystal Palace Parade were particularly memorable! I only met him once in person - briefly at the somewhat short-lived CQ Centre (in Wimbledon I think?) but spoke with him many times on the air, often simplex while I was driving along the A217 to Reigate. By that time he was formally licenced as G4NLB, although most will remember his best days under his "unofficial" callsign, G8DNX. Such gems as: "G8DNX speaks, on the parade, on an old wartime microphone stolen from the back of the officers' mess at Biggin Hill aerodrome....." I only became aware of his activities with Radio Jackie and other land-based pirate stations very recently, but clearly a radio man through and through. RIP Brian.
