New to DMR

Postby 2E0LDQ » Thu Feb 07, 2019 2:37 pm

Hi,
I’m new to DMR and have just ordered my Anytone D868,
I have a codeplug for some of the local stuff etc..
But not very much,
I’d be using it with a hotspot which I’ve also ordered,
Question is,
How do I go about scanning for new frequencies in my area what are on DMR when I’m not using the hotspot,
Such as shopwatch, pubs and the like, doesn’t have to be them in particular,
Just anything that’s local to me that I could listen to when not using the hotspot,
I’m in Durham if that helps,
Is there a feature on the radio itself that allows it to scan and save what it finds such as the colour code etc...
I don’t know all that much about it but I do have a rough idea,
Any hints and tips to point me in the right direction to get me going would be very much appreciated,
Thanks in advance

Its a radio not a scanner so you can't scan for frequencies, you could on analogue radios but not for DMR :mrcool:

To scan for frequencies you need a DMR scanner or SDR

Get the UK Scanning Directory to find the frequencies (click me)

With the Anytone 868 and 878 you can do a search for both analogue and digital frequencies, any DMR frequencies found will decode, as long as they are not encrypted of have RAS enabled on a Motorola CAP+ system...

Thanks Mike I didn't know that, and dual band too, looks appealing but an accident waiting to happen in the wrong hands.

I am not so sure that many of problems that arise will be the results of accidents.
