Was back up north this weekend. Brought my MD380 and SDR dongle. Good grief, there's nothing going on in Ayrshire. Glad I moved south!

Where down south are you? Please do bear in mind Ayrshire has a population of only around 380,000. I can pick up about 20 DMR users in this little county. Please try not to be patronising about the choice made by users in frequencies or mode that you aren't most likely actually entitled to listen into.

Unless your SDR dongle is plugged into the Darvel transmitter or similar, you won't hear much. If I have my disco tapped Pro 2042 with an MRW100 attached antenna and put through my laptop, I can pick up signals from around 20 miles radius away in a straight line. If I plug in my SDR antenna, that 20 miles gets reduced to about 2 miles. I live at a height of 130 feet off the ground near a beach. Maybe your extension that you hope to give you pleasure needs is the problem, not the tiny thing you use and hope will do to hopefully give pleasure, will do. I'd say your own personal equipment is the problem, not what is out there to play with...

I'm now living in Morecambe in Lancashire, so my contributions to this section are as good as finished.
