Is there any way i can connect the coax leading to the aerial on my house onto my NETSET pro 46? If so would it even be useful?

What aerial? If you mean the TV antenna, then yes, but I would not advise it. Simply because your TV antenna is a directional antenna & will probably have multiple directors & thus have a very narrow beam.
A sightly better handheld antenna, something like a Nagoya NA-771.

Or something like the Spectrum Communications Nomad. The one without the pre amp. Which can be hung in the loft, a window, from gutters, in a corner or any where else, will all help improve reception.
