Anyone from Nottingham?

Postby sidsabbath » Tue Jun 04, 2019 6:32 pm

Hi, I've been in to scanning for a few years, although I haven't really applied myself wholeheartedly to it.
I would like to meet up with someone local to help give me more of an understanding in to different radio modes and systems. I've recently upgraded my old analogue scanner to a new digital one.
I know this is a cheeky request, but if anyone is willing to help by passing on their knowledge I would really appreciate it.

TIA

Matt

Sorry for my late reply, I've been busy with work.
Thank you for your kind offer.
I've recently purchased a Uniden UBCD3600XLT. Now, I have no issues programming it conventionally, it's more of knowing which digital sounds match to which type of digital type, P25 etc.

Sidsabbath,
Good evening and welcome to digital scanning !!!
Same as you , had scanners for years then lost interest and now back with digital scanner (Whistler) - With regards signals and their sounds , I spent a little while on Youtube and searched Digital scanning...however try Youtube and DMR in search as there are some clips of people setting up some great software for decoding DMR signals via an SDR type receiver (the dongle plug in type) and during the setup demo , I think there are various signals played and identified eg P25 , DMR , TETRA etc.

Hope it helps a little...I'm sure someone reading this will correct me and probably direct you to a site that does all that you've asked for !!!!!!
Good Luck,

A simpler way of going forward is to put the 3600 in search mode, any valid signals (mainly analogue, DMR or NXDN) will be received automatically - unless encrypted.. just save them..
